I bet you can guess where I’ve been the last couple of days. Playing with the new kittens of course!

Well, it’s not so much playing as it is quietly and carefully winning their hearts. Their? Did I say their? Did I say kittens? Yes, I did! That’s right… kittens, as in plural.

Cats love boxes.
Two new kitties! Tippy (left) and Misha (right).

We got to the shelter and found out that Tippy had a sister named Misha. We initially said no when the girl at the animal shelter asked if we would take both, but after making an emotional phone call to my mother (okay, it wasn’t that emotional…), she kindly agreed not to separate the siblings. Now, we have two kitties and only one carrier.

Misha likes to hide under the bed a lot.
Misha was really nervous on the ride home.

Potty training has thus far been 50% successful. Tippy and Misha both had an accident already, but thankfully I have plenty of carpet cleaner and pet stain remover on hand. They’re slowly learning to use the litterbox. However, as a cat mama, I’m proud to say that both of them have pooped in the litterbox. Let us hope this continues.

Cats like to watch cat videos too.
We helped Tippy and Misha settle in with some cat videos.

Since they’re siblings, they’re both 5 and 1/2 months old. They go in for their wellness exam tomorrow. My sister and I will be taking them to the pet hospital just down from us that we took Ella to when we found her. These sweet little kittens have no idea that their future includes a thermometer up the butt. Misha still doesn’t want to be held, so I don’t know how the vet is going to calm her down. Hopefully, having her sister there will help.

We’re getting this really awesome corner litterbox SmartCat Corner Litter Box, Gray (affiliate link) off of Amazon for behind the piano (this is where Tippy had her accident, and if she’s going to go back there and pee, it’ll be in a litterbox). I’m thinking about getting one for the couch as well for behind it. That can be my Christmas present to them.

Tippy is the only one with a collar right now because we only bought supplies for one cat, and it’s got a little bell on it to keep her from scaring the ever-living daylights out of us. She keeps meowing pitifully for attention or for her sister; I’m not sure which it is. I think this cat needs cuddles 24/7. She also turned my computer off mid-blog post by stepping on a series of keys. She didn’t get anywhere near the power button, so I’m not sure how she did it.

My cat thinks that because it is made of warm that it is for sits.
I was clearly dismayed. Tippy remained ambivalent.

We initially planned for one kitten to help me with my anxiety/depression, as well as my sister’s animal behavioral therapy courses, but I’ve so far been more anxious and overprotective.

New kittens love to explore new spaces.
Tippy likes to explore. Misha’s a bit more cautious.

I also got a new medication that’s specifically for anxiety to help me sleep. It’s not in any way a sleeping medication, but my doctor thinks that my anxiety is a big part of my insomnia problem. It’s just a matter of waiting to see how the new medication affects me. I can’t drink alcohol with it, so I’m a bit bummed about that, but it’s a good enough excuse as any to cut it out of my life. Drinks at bars are spendy anyways. Cutting it out is just good for me, I know that.

Overall, I’ve just been a bit tired and feeling drained, but I think the new kittens will perk me up just fine. I love playing with them and taking pictures, as you can see. It’s just going to take some adjustment time for them to be completely comfortable
