Well, last week was a little bit hectic. And by hectic, I mean I cried my brains out because I was so stressed and tired that I didn’t know how to handle it anymore. I walked downstairs and into my bathroom to get ready for bed, and lo and behold, a gigantic spider with the leg-span of a large sand dollar was chillin’ out above the toilet. Needless to say, I lost it.

You see, last night was the first night in two and a half weeks where I got enough sleep. I spent two and a half weeks getting four hours of sleep or less per night, and when I did sleep, it wasn’t what you would call “restful” sleep. It felt like a period of unconsciousness where I unknowingly laid down in a bed and my eyes stayed closed for that time. It wasn’t the warm and fuzzy dream time that most people experience.

Friggin’ ridiculous. To make matters worse, I got a couple dozen articles to write in one week (this is why I didn’t post Wed., Thurs., and Fri.). Seven of them were on subjects that most people couldn’t write a single paragraph about, and I had to write 1000 words for each of them. One of the articles from another batch was really fun, though; it was on the subject of sexism in the 1950s. I told my family about it, and we had a lively discussion at the dinner table on what it was like for women in that decade.

The discussion took an unfortunate turn when my dad asked “Why didn’t women just fight back and say, ‘I’m just as good as you are!’ to the men?” Needless to say, the women of our household had to explain some things to him. Bless his heart, but sometimes his views on things are a bit skewed.

Anywho, back to the sleep thing.

I have always been either a night owl or an insomniac. I used to be able to take 5 hour long naps during the day, then go to bed at 4 a.m., and then sleep til noon or later. This was mostly during my teen years (especially when I was battling anorexia; I was always exhausted) when I could sleep the whole day if I wanted to. I had the flu one time and pretty much slept for 24 hours in a row, minus bathroom breaks and a quick nibble on some saltine crackers.

I’m not sure when things changed. For many years now, I’ve had such severe problems with insomnia that I’ve been awake for three days straight before. I also had such severe allergies that had the same effect. All in all, this is very bad for my anxiety.

I suspect I may have chronic insomnia, but that blog post will have to wait til tomorrow. I’ve got quite a bit of catching up to do with other blogs and article writing. I just wanted to let you all know why I was absent the past week. I really missed blogging.

Alrighty. I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Ciao for now!

  1. Glad to hear you’re doing better and as you know, I’m sorry you had a rough week last week. Please remember that I’m always here if you need to talk!

    1. Thanks, dear! Insomnia really sucks, especially when not even sleeping pills work for you. I’m not sure why it’s so bad for me. Perhaps I should start staying up later in an effort to tire myself out. lol

  2. Maybe. I like your “so hardcore, maybe I should start a band” comment! Have a good rest of the day and a good night!
